94 Points Vinous: (100 percent new oak) Dark bright red. Heady red berry liqueur, potpourri and Asian spice aromas, along with suggestions of cola and incense. Sweet, concentrated and penetrating on the palate, offering powerful, spice-laced black raspberry and cherry-vanilla flavors and a subtle, refreshingly bitter touch of blood orange. Velvety tannins sneak in slowly and fold effortlessly into the energetic, alluringly sweet fruit on the strikingly long, seamless finish. -Josh Raynolds
93 Points Wine Advocate: The 2014 Pinot Noir Notorious is a barrel selection from new oak barrels, each with four to seven gallons of settling lees added when they are filled. This consists of two barrels from Freedom Hill, two barrels from Balcombe Vineyard, and one barrel from Durant and Olenik Vineyard. Naturally, the new oak comes through quite strongly at this early stage, although it feels in sync with the fruit, quite polished and pure. The palate is medium-bodied with a smooth, velvety texture, the acidity very well judged, very harmonious and yet it is obvious that it will need several years for its personality to be revealed. This will be a seductive and doubtless quite sensual Pinot Noir with great pedigree.
